My 1st year as a Couponer!

There are many things that I can talk about that has happened over the past year. Let me first start by saying this, I wish I would of started this sooner! I'm sure you have heard most couponers say that, but its very true for me. I could of been saving my family tons of money years ago. However because of that I push myself as much as I can to help where ever I can.
I as most of you know am a stay at home mom. I'm so lucky that I have the chance to be there for my daughter everyday. I love being able to see her grow and help her along the way. Being a stay at home mom has its challenges though as some of you know money is always something that can help take care of and fix a lot of things... from personal experience Money CAN'T buy you happiness, You have to find that on your own! I know that when you work hard for it you tend to appreciate it more.... OK no tend to you simply DO appreciate it more.
As with coupons we were in a tough spot, moving across the country will do that to a family, and then a huge pay cut on top of it! That's enough to make anyone cry, but my mother helped guide me in the direction of couponing, I really couldn't take credit for coming up with this on my own. She told me that I would be able to stay home with my daughter and save money. I was sold. So that's where it all began.
At first I said to myself I can't wait to not have to do this anymore. It's a pain it takes days to plan one trip I cant wait to not have to do this anymore... (yes I had quite the "princess" attitude about it, but as you all know now, this is not true all anymore) Now I can safely say I won't ever for as long as I live buy anything that is not on sale and/or I don't have some sort of coupon for it. Now I'm happy to coupon. I don't even care if people are rude to me about it like I once did. Because they don't know me or my life. And even if they did its not any of their business to start with.
I don't take take forever to make a list now, I don't worry about if people are saying something about me. I like the fact that I can coupon and save a bunch of money while other people are to proud to do it. I know its time consuming, I know its a pain but don't give up on it. Keep with it....Just to give you an Idea of how much money I have saved my family this year, has been over $5,000. Yes that's right! Between sales, and coupons, samples, and God only knows what else. I haven't paid retail in a year! So If you think you can't do it, or its just not for you, you're wrong. You can do it. Its hard work but nothing in life is easy, but the more you do it the easier it gets. I promise you it is so worth it.
Now here is the fun part. I'm getting married August 31st. this year, (that's a big part of why I haven't been blogging so much.) And I'm doing it all for very little. I have been checking prices everywhere, for everything. I think I have pinched pennies so hard I got nickels and maybe even dimes out of them. LOL! So I'm hoping that we can have an amazing wedding for an amazing price. Wish me luck on the next few months. I'm so gitty about this next year! Its going to be even better then last year! YAY!

Couponing Tip of the Day

So I know I have been slacking on the Tip of the Day, and I am really sorry. I now have my new computer and don't have to share all the time! Yay! LOL!

Anyways so I was thinking while I was in Target tonight, I wonder how many of my Buddies know that you can use a Target coupon with a manufacturer coupon. And they take printable ones as well.... You can save am amazing amount of money.

Try it and you will see it adds up really fast.

Right now they have a lot on clearance and you can combine coupons with those deals too! So you can get items so low its totally worth it! I got a $22 shirt for $7 after coupon! It was on sale and I had a $3 off coupon! Could you believe it a coupon for clothes! I just love Target. They make it so easy for you to find deals you just have to know where to look....

Basically don't follow the "yellow brick road" in this case the "Red out lined road". Always walk the perimeter of the store. That's where you will always find the deals! I also found hair color for $3.24 a box and after coupon it was only $0.24 each! Its totally worth it!

So today in my mailbox I got a flyer for bottom dollar food. I've heard about them coming to this area, I have to say according to this flyer it looks like its going to be really nice. They sent coupons for $10 off $20 or more using your membership card. Here is the flyer I got today.

Couponing Tip of the Day

Here is the new tip of the day. Always, make a list.... and start shopping ONLY from the list. Even if its just 2 things. And do the math before you get to the store, that way you have an idea of how much you're going to spend. The key to success is to have a plan, ALWAYS have a plan.

We have been trying something new to try to save some money for a rainy day. Whenever we go to the store and we save a bunch we have been trying to take 10% of our savings and put it in our rainy day fund.... so if I save say $70 I take $7 and put it away. It may not sound like much but it helps out tons.

Think about it this way, the dollar store charges $1 for everything, you can walk out of there with a hand full of wash cloths for $5 or wait for them to go on sale at Target for a quarter. Companies depend on people to say oh its only a dollar.... or it only went up 5 cents.... bottom line it adds up fast. REALLY FAST. Say I save $7 a week every week for a year.... well here is the math....

 $7 a week
x 4 weeks in a month
 $28 a month

or

 $7 a week
x 52 weeks a year
$364
 That covers my Internet for the year and then some!

Couponing tip of the day

So I'm going to start a new posting (I'm going to try) "Couponing Tip of the Day". I'm going to try and cover all of my bases here, whether you are a newbie or been doing this for some time, I hope that everyone can learn a little something new. So here is tip #1

Just because you have a coupon for something doesn't mean you have to use it... Don't ever feel bad about not being able to use a coupon... We all get coupons that we just won't ever use. However, see if someone else can. There are tons of people out there who could use your lets say diaper coupon. I don't need them so I try to pass them along to someone who can use them.

The other part of this is only use the coupon when you absolutely NEED something IF its not on sale. The BEST way to save money is to WAIT till its on sale. Say I needed toothpaste, and it wasn't on sale but I had a coupon and couldn't wait for 2 days till it was on sale, then I would buy it. But if I had half a tube of toothpaste and knew it was going to be on sale in 2 days, I would wait. This is how you save money.

Oh I guess you got two tips for one tonight. LOL!
